Offers a degree program in arts management, an undergraduate community arts minor, workshops, and faculty and student activities. In a state in which smaller cities such as Ashland, Bend, Salem and Astoria have regular film events and notable festivals, it's long been a wonder to me that Oregon's major college towns -- Corvallis and Eugene -- haven't followed suit. Corvallis has its DaVinci Days, which has a small film festival component, but if there has ever been any bigger film activity in those cities, it's escaped notice this far north on I-5.

	The University of Oregon Arts and Administration Program is a multidisciplinary field, focused on promoting the arts and culture for individuals and societies. AAD is part of the School of Architecture and Allied Arts. Cinema Pacific looks likely to shatter that silence. In May, a group of graduate students, undergrads, faculty members and locals will present five days of movies, music, and talks with an emphasis on the film culture of the Pacific -- Asia, South and Central America, and the Western United States. There will be a survey of the works of the Korean director Bong Joon-Ho ("The Host," "Mother"), a sneak preview of "Cyrus" by the mumblecore wizards Jay and Mark Duplass, films from Mexico and from San Francisco experimentalist Jay Rosenblatt, and more.
