Victoria Adams Brown, the internationally known author of "The Complete Guide to Silk Ribbon Embroidery" and "The New Ribbon Embroidery" is the proprietress of the RibbonSmyth Studio. Although taught to embroider at the age of seven, she first discovered silk ribbon embroidery while visiting the UK. One morning her breakfast partner from Australia, shared her daughter’s wedding photos with Victoria. The entire bridal party’s gowns were all embellished with silk ribbon embroidery. Immediately smitten, Victoria soon received supplies from Australia, after exhausting every haberdashery in England and began her embellishment journey.

I teach a variety of surface embellishment techniques. I developed two lines of Victorian Rubber Stamp Alphabets that I adapted from a 1729 English Cottage Alphabet book; that when combined with our water-erasable stamp pad ink, makes a perfect transfer onto fabric. I was fortunate to aid in the development of the ink with the Japanese company. The ink is heirloom safe and will not damage fibers. Now any rubber stamp can be used as an embroidery template! Quilters have found this technique a boost to their creativity. The stamp pad ink is heirloom safe. |
