It is not the mission of the Oscura Press to make money. Let the US Treasury make money; the mission for this publishing house — the mission for any company, in fact — is to create culture. The Oscura Press strives to run itself as a nonprofit, for zero profitability. We aim to revitalize reading, which we feel is declining in this age of iPods and on-demand TV. To this end, we’re looking to publish the works of original authors, and to get those works into the reading public’s hands. We only publish works of literary fiction, or other original works of literary merit.
