Department of Classics in the University of Wales Lampeter. Classics has been taught at Lampeter since the opening of St David’s College in 1822, making us the senior Classics department in Wales. The standard of teaching in the Department, always a noted strength, has been adjudged ‘excellent’ in the most recent Teaching Quality Assessment. We pride ourselves on our lecturer-student relations based on an excellent staff-student ratio. This ensures detailed guidance about courses throughout your stay here. We are all enthusiasts and we hope that our enthusiasm for the Classics will provide you with the basis for a life-long interest in the Classical World.

University of Wales Lampeter - Department of Classics |
| |
We have a thriving undergraduate student body, undertaking not only traditional Classics courses, but also degree schemes in Ancient History, Classical Studies and (with the Department of Archaeology) Ancient History and Archaeology and (with the Department of History) Ancient and Medieval History. The department also has a fast developing postgraduate student body, both residential and working at a distance, the latter’s growth a reflection of our strong commitment to reaching students beyond the immediate campus. Thus as well as the traditional, campus-based Research and Master’s degrees, the department offers its PhD, MPhil and MAs at a distance, as well as Postgraduate Licences in Greek and Latin. |
