David Willhite Pottery

Includes an online gallery of David Willhite's hand thrown pottery, where to buy, sales and shows, classes, about the artist and about the pottery. This is what I set out to do. I've always wanted to make big vases. I try to combine new technology with old designs, contrasting masculine qualities with feminine curves, and make large pots light-weight. My goal is to make pots that are timeless, mysterious and surprising. To make them interesting to look at, touch and even listen to, evoking emotions from the viewer.

Description: Mossy Rock Pottery - handmade by David Willhite
Then there's the person who has actually tried to throw pottery on the potter's wheel. This person can fully appreciate many more of the qualities imparted to the piece by the potter. The lightness and balance of the pot, the shape and taughness of the form, the color and finish of the glaze and so many more details that the average viewer misses. It could easily be compared to the difference between a cup of drip coffee and a perfectly prepared cup of gourmet espresso. Do they do the same thing? Yes. But to the well informed consumer, there is a world of difference.
