Cream City Ribbon

Many people think Cream City Ribbon is made from paper or wood. It is actually a green product made from 100% cotton yarn. The glue used to bond the yarn together gives it its curling and shredding capability. Cream City Ribbon is all natural, acid and lignin-free and made in the USA. Each ½” wide ribbon is composed of approximately 52 strands of cotton yarn running parallel to one another. A series of eyelets keep the strands in position as they are then run through a tank filled with water-soluble adhesive. As the yarn emerges from the glue tank it is transferred onto a drying wheel. If it is to be printed, the plate is adhered to the printer, adjusted for a clear impression and the soy-based ink color is mixed. After it is printed the ribbon is wound onto spools, packed and shipped.

Description: Cream City Ribbon
We use a flexographic printing process, by which a liquid soy based ink is applied to the surface. This means that some inks will look slightly different on different background colors and that light inks may not be effective on dark backgrounds. In order to print on two sides, two plates are required. Our yarns are dyed to order and, although each batch is checked on arrival, slight variations of yarn color may occur from lot to lot. Each and every order is hand made. Our goal is to make each run as close to the previous one as possible, but some variations may occur.
