The Center’s research and development activities, conducted in schools across the United States, have found elements of curriculum, instruction, and assessment that are essential to developing high literacy and how schools can best help students achieve success. Based on these findings, the Center has developed and tested its Partnership for Literacy, a professional and instructional development program designed to increase teacher knowledge and student learning. This program is available to schools and districts on a collaborative grant, fee-for-service, or leasing basis.

The Home of the Center on English Learning and Achievement (CELA). CELA currently supports two major projects: (1) The Partnership for Literacy, service to schools seeking to improve student literacy, learning, and thinking. (2) The National Study of Writing Instruction, a research project investigating writing instruction across subjects at the middle and high school levels. CELA also provides research findings and school reform suggestions through print and online resources to teachers, administrators, and parents so that they can put the Center’s findings to work in their classrooms, schools, and communities. |
