Cast On began on Monday, 31 October, 2005, by Brenda Dayne, who would like to say that Cast On was founded on a firm belief that our memories, thoughts, hopes and dreams are knit into the fabric we create and so become part of the fabric of our lives. Brenda would also like to say that from the beginning she knew that just as each knitted piece has its own story to tell, so, too, do their makers. She would like to say that Cast On is a part of her grand plan to share these stories in such a way that the world would be saved from mass production forever, one stitch at a time. She would very much like to say that. But she can’t.

	The hardware, software and audio production techniques used to produce the podcast have also evolved over the years and the website continues to expand, contract, divide, reform and redefine itself, according to the hopes, dreams, needs, fears, desires, whims and current obsessions of its creator. Sometimes those things are reflected here, sometimes not. The podcast and this website are a big part of Brenda’s life, but they are not her whole life. If the site looks a bit dusty since the last time you visited and hasn’t been updated in a while, it means Brenda’s making things other than podcasts.
