Art Barcelona is an association of art galleries founded in 1990 and was the first such association of its kind established in Spain. The organization is geared towards the discovery, development, and exhibition of contemporary art. Taking a new direction with its activities, Art Barcelona had organized in November 2005 a seminar on the topic of ¨Intellectual Property in the Visual Arts World¨ that took place in the auditorium of the Museum for Contemporary Art Barcelona (MACBA). This seminar attempted to tackle the matter from a practical standpoint where artists, gallerias, and other professionals could walk away with useful, new information. The objective was to bring together arts professionals and those in the law field specializing in intellectual property to add new knowledge, troubleshoot, and, most importantly, to generate a network of resources to solve future issues. On account of the seminar's great success, Art Barcelona has continued to organize annual seminars of interest to galleries, responding to new tendencies in the art world.

On the heels of New Art, Art Barcelona organized two editions of the art fair LOOP'00 and LOOP'04, and the video art fair OffLOOP, specializing in all formats of moving images. The first two editions took place at Barceló Hotel Sants in Barcelona and far exceeded everyone's expectations for the level of public interest, resulting in much critical and media acclaim. Both national and international galleries were well represented at the fair.
