The Association for History and Computing is an international organisation which aims to promote and develop interest in the use of computers in all types of historical study at every level, in both teaching and research. The AHC was proposed at a large conference at Westfield College, University of London, in March 1986. At a second conference at Westfield, in March 1987, it was founded and its constitution approved. A central co-ordinating body, the Council, organises the AHC's international activities, including annual international conferences, and supervises publications.
