The Scholastic Kids Press Corps has just announced the 37 newest members for the 2009-2010 school year. The Kid Reporter press corps is the largest national team of 10-14 year olds which reports news for kids, by kids. Stories include current events, breaking news, entertainment and sports from their hometowns across the country. "The Kid Reporter program helps increase students' awareness and interest about current events and the world around them," said Suzanne Freeman, Director of the Scholastic Kids Press Corps.

Writing with Writers: Poetry Writing - Scholastic |
| |
Study the genre of poetry by taking part in step-by-step workshops with three of your favorite authors. Then have your work published online in our Scholastic archive. Includes teacher's guide. Current Kid Reporter Shelby Fallin wrote about it on the Kids Press Corps blog, interviewing one of the incoming members to the program. For their first assignment, the Kid Reporters will be tackling one of the biggest stories of the day and reporting on the economy and how it’s affecting their families, friends and communities. |
